Hello everyone,

First of all A Happy New Year to all palm talkers - hoping you are doing great!

I was thinking about a short garden update but since we have...

..nothing than wind and rain since Christmas - temps are warm though, around 77F/25C - there was no way to take some decent photos outside.

Ok, so how about presenting some of my hopefuls for the new year I am still keeping inside...? If you are interested, please enjoy the short tour.

One of our rooms I am using for my young seedlings and plants - let`s dive in...

I am glad to get a hand on these, Veitchia metiti - until now six out of ten, not bad.

002.thumb.jpg.96cea5f01d665222ab0d370d6f

Just a few weeks old and pretty fast. I got hooked with Veitchias since my V. joannis are super rockets over here.

"Joining the club" ;)  D.sp. Dark Mealybug...

Fine and steady grower, Licuala naumannii.

004.thumb.jpg.8a50069ce48ba91d328f291ab1

Looking very nice - Dypsis bejouf `Bejofa`. (Seems to like the taste of red wine ;) )

006.thumb.jpg.87cac565284de07ba25c1bf400

I am looking forward to put these fellows in the ground - Livistona rotundifolia.

017.thumb.jpg.1f02de109def073edde7fcd7bb

Almost care free grower, Lytocarium weddellianum - this spring they will go outside.

My "greenhouse" - let`s take a look:

Barely to make out - my second attempt on...

...Cyrtostachys renda.

008.thumb.jpg.4e21f39cca81ed906422656b9d

My currently only sprout - Euterpe oleracea `Para dwarf`...(interesting color so far).

Finally, a very exciting species...

018.thumb.jpg.1c4bfc3ee7c61fc2f140f9b5ea

May I introduce - my small crowd of Phoenicophorium borsigianum.

I am really happy to get nine out of twenty - I hope I get a few of them ready to be planted out.

-----

Al right, thank you for your time, an update from the garden will follow -

best regards from Okinawa

Growing some nice stuff, and V. metiti seem to be pretty hardy, even as seedlings. You should have great success with them.

Your other seedlings look healthy too.

Had dinner with Bo and Kim last night, and of course, we did some palm talking.

Thank you very much!

I have seen your V. metiti photos in other threads after my order at rps, very nice specimen. It will probably take

some time to get them big, but that`s fine with me.

I was very glad to welcome Bo over on our small island and I definitely enjoyed the conversation we had.

Maybe one day I will be able to say Hello to his wife, too.

All healthy looking seedlings and great to see an indoor room being taken over by palms.

Thank you very much, too!

I am happy to be able to do that since our kids are still young. I guess more grown up one of them is going to

claim this place for him/herself... ;)

If I may add some great news herewith:

Since this morning I am very proud to add a new species - I was really long waiting for - to my collection:

Look what I have found on hour ago...

My first Bismarckia nobilis!!! It`s probably the only specimen on whole Okinawa so far.... I am really happy!

If it is doing well I am going to clear a nice spot for it in my garden, definitely!

Thank you for your time, again!

Best regards -

Lars
