Kinda cheating but only with Die Kinder

Well, as you know, we had a low of 42F. Since the garden is 147 meters over sea level, in our latitude,(32.6) it helps. I think it actually is the sweet spot for the region (south facing, 147 mts.)

Oh yes, what am I cheating with: my two youngest cocos:

Store bought golden tall and the Red Tahiti dwarf. However, I did not house them, only set a trap above 'em and a 75watt broodlamp trained between their meristem and the sand.

As you can see, the green Pacific coco's  are not protected.  I found out that in my 10b cali climate, my cocoa do not need a tent to survive. Just a tarp over them the first 2 or 3 years. I actually killed two cocos because I tented them with black 3ml. plastic bags...  I knew last year that all (at most) what is needed in my climate is just a tarp. And we dont get frost.

As I mentioned a while back, I will send updated picks of the golden malayan dwarf late March '19

gute Nacht
