Hey all,

Any help in identifying these beauties would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe the last is same as the first?  Just less color.

Thanks!

Hi Adam.  I think you have a couple.  The first is Franklin D. Roosevelt.  The third is Eleanor Roosevelt.  Not sure about the middle one.  Right now it doesn't have enough identifiable features to my eye.  It appears to be developing an oak leaf, but there are many with that.  Could be President Reagan.  Maybe the place specializes in presidential crotons?

I find the Roosevelts to be easy, pretty cold hardy cultivars.  Reagan is just a tad more finicky for me and is presently dropping leaves like crazy with our cool spells in Sarasota.

Thank you so much Anna.  I am in Southern California. So I understand the long cool spells all too well.  But crotons are not part of most gardens here.  So hard to know what is what and how they will do in the climate.

This particular retailer is not a croton specialist or expert by any stretch.

I do know that Mammies do well here.  I have a couple Zanzibars in pots.  They are doing well too....surprisingly.  I believe they are very cool and wet sensitive.

My guess is Green Thumb Joe.

Adam, did you buy any?

Looking to add more crotons to the garden.

That would explain why I couldn't find the Franklin Roosevelt this afternoon!

Sorry Joe.  Didn't mean to sound snarky.   My attempt at a little humor didn't come across well in the post.

I have plenty of crotons at my place.  Glad you were able to pick one up.  Hope it does well for you!

Ha! All good.  I picked up a Franklin Roosevelt and a huge ‘magnificent’.

Interesting.   I didn't notice any Magnificents.  I will have to go back and look.
