Pretty much.

Well….looked at the plant this morning and it appears to have cracked open its spear. I was fearing it was not Ampasindavae and had a couple other PT’rs state their opinion on the ID. I thought possibly another form of Prestoniana like OCWS. It’s ID relied heavily on whether it pushed a colored frond or not so it was a bit of a waiting game. Drumroll…….

Still not 100% it’s Ampasindavae but all the possible ID’s id be ok with had a colored leaf so it’s good news and I’m super stoked about it.

Missed the latest posts in this thread, looking good everyone.

Dale, back in the early 2000’s I had never even heard of this palm, available species were a bit limited, at least for a newbie like me.

Yours looks like the type, with the new colored leaf. You know, mine used to throw the new red/orange leaf, but it’s been awhile since it’s done that. I wonder if I’ve just missed it or if the palm grows out of that stage.

I’ve posted these photos before, somewhere on PT, but here they are again.

Tim,

id be happy if it looks 1/2 as good as yours. Again, not sure WTF it is but the fact it has a tinted leaf is a good thing in my book.
