Trachycarpus fortunei and Livistona australis female with seeds - dioecious species

Hello, 

Yesterday I saw a Trachycarpus fortunei and a Livistonia australis female with seeds but there is no male in the area! 
I was wondering if the seeds from these palm will germinate ?? A friend told me that after few years of flowering there is like a mutation on female plants and the seeds are viable... 
Is that true ?? What do you think ?
