I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

  • 1 year later...

Any updated information on these palms, especially in SoCal?

I ordered mine as a 1g Dypsis "bejouf" in January 2018 from Floribunda and it has survived long enough and looks good enough that I want to get it in the ground. It gets bright light plus an hour or two of sun in it's current area. I am not so naive to believe that since this plant has survived in a pot for 2 1/2 years that it will survive a year in the ground, but I never desired to build a Dypsis container ranch at my place! Culturally, I'm expecting that it would be best to allow it to grow through canopy into sun, but I'm curious if I could grow this in an open area with shade cloth for a few years before letting in more sun?

The names are quite confusing among  D. bejofa, bejoufa, bejouf, etc... Floribunda still lists my plant as Dypsis "bejouf" and I don't know if this is also the  same as "wide leafed bejofa." I hope I've not hijacked this thread with a totally different palm...

Here's the plant after a nice shower.
