Multi trunk Phoenix ID

Saw an interesting multi trunk Phoenix today in Destin. Must be a hybrid of some kind. My guess is Phoenix Canariensis and Phoenix Roebelenii hybrid. What say you!

It was seeding too, so took a few and will try to germinate them.

I looks like P reclinata ( one of 5 South African native palm species) to me.

Would be awesome if it was P. Reclinata. But I’m not sure that  P. Reclinata is hardy enough for this area.

Theres a reclinata in Myrtle Beach zone 8b

Phoenix reclinata takes up to  -5 deg C in Bloemfontein most years. There are numerous ones here.

Most winters it doesn’t go below -5C here, but every now and then it does. Absolute lows of below -5C, all the way to -12C(1899 and 1989), used to happen quite frequently. 

Must be why it’s the only P. Reclinata in the area that I know of, and why I tend to think it’s a hybrid of some kind that gives it some extra cold hardiness.

I’m sure there ‘was’ one, but it is no more. Not after a low of 16F this past winter.
