Large Butia PNW

Thought I would share some pics of my large Butia that I've had in the ground for a couple of years now in the Portland, OR area.  This tree was planted out as 24" box 2 years ago (Aug 1)  along with one other specimen.  That first winter of 2015/2016 was in the top 5 worst of all time with the other four occurring back in the 40's and 50's.  Multiple freezing rain events, almost a week below freezing and the lowest temp I saw was 12 F one night.  Aside from that we had record rainfall that year that absolutely saturated everything and caused a lot of landslides and flooding in our area.  This tree took it all like a champ while the other one succumbed, the only thing i had to treat was some black spots on the fronds in spring.  I think the success with this tree is due to a great microclimate, as this tree is in very fast draining soil, facing south with reflected heat from the garage and it's always protected from the cold east wind, plus maybe some good genetics.  I just measured and to the top of the tallest frond its 10'.  I know there are others in the Portland area but I've yet to see one other than what's at the nursery.  I've included some pics of when it was first planted.

I moved from Canada expecting no more winter and then boom   Last winter was much better, even t we had wet snow four nights in a row.  Lowest temp was 24F one night, and I think we went below freezing 4 nights in total for a few hours.  Daytime highs all above freezing.

I went and looked at the palm again and I think its more like 9'.  It was hard to measure with a tape with all the fronds.
