new butia eriospatha- is it doomed?

Hello,

after the announced and inevitable death of my Pajubaea TvT:( I am worried about the state of health of the Butia eriospatha I received yesterday. By looking at the photos you can see that at least the older fronds aren't full-sun-grown but I can tolerate that ( I will acclimatize it in light shade). The roots were very tight in the pot so I had to cut the pot into pieces. Most of the roots were very brownish and I could only detect one white tip:wacko:. Please tell me what you think of it so that I can decide whether I will complain at the nursery or not.

Here are the photos of the palm:

Nothing to complain about there.  Just been in that pot for a while. Put it in the ground and it will take off.

Beautiful palm. Will you have to protect it during your winter?

@PalmatierMeg I sure would protect it - at least in the first winter, but I won't be there<_<. This little fella gets planted in a location that is at least a zone warmer than me (here is Z7b) and if it doesn't survive its first winter unprotected, I won't replace it. I like Butias when they are small like mine and maybe a little bigger and I love the look of old Butias with smooth trunks. But in the stage in between I find Butias rather ugly with their retaining leaf bases (especially with a sparse crown due to cold damage they look very disproportionately). Because this stage will presumably take a lot of time, I probably won't spend more money on this slow growing genus and say: survival of the fittest:evil: (I hope it will survive, because I already planned and purchased some more tender palms:unsure:)
