Butyagrus

First off. I'm new to palms, so handle with care.

Now that the disclaimer is out of the way I have recently purchased a few xButyagrus (mule palms) that are small straps. One had a bit of a mishap and pretty much bent in half, I held it up with a small piece of bamboo and string but noticed a bulge forming within a few days, I gave the newest spear a tug and out it came. Figured if it's going to make it, it will. Yesterday I noticed what appears to be a curmpled up spear attempting to work it way out. Is there anything I can do to help the little guy or should I just let it be? Mind you this palm has the diameter of a ticonderoga no. 2

Gently Spread the old leaves and allow the jam some room to come on out.

Thanks, I'll see if I can give it some breathing room. Appreciate it.
