Dypsis lutescens, one seed....

Just wondering, does one germinated seed sucker into many, or do you need to put a few on one pot?

They can sucker prolifically when older. I always kept mine one to a pot. They grew and looked better. If you stick many in one pot they will compete until weaker palms succumb and a few are left. Also, occasionally these clustering palms will produce a solitary offspring. I prefer the solitary form. But you will never know if you have one if you artificially cluster them.

I have one that is from a single seed, total of 4 trunks now and it's mature. Never seen it try to push any more trunks. It's actually a spectacular palm this way IMO. I'll add a photo later

I agree. When I could see each individual trunk, I was amazed at how beautiful they were: colors of gold, rose, pale blue and mint green sprinkled with tiny black speckles. Here in FL this species is scorned because they are grown in ratty jammed hedges, sunburned, not watered or fertilized and look ugly. A shame, because it deserves better.
