The Airbus Beluga XL is a specially modified Airbus A330 and it will be used to transport large sections of Airbus aircraft (like wings and pieces of fuselages) between the various production sites. Max. weight 227,000 kilos/500,000 lbs. Boeing has a small fleet of so called 747 Dreamlifters (converted 747-400s) and they operate primarily between the USA, Japan and Italy, also moving large parts of Boeing widebody aircraft, pre production. Max weight of the Dreamlifter: 398,000 kilo/877,000 lbs. In other words, no comparison... Here's a Dreamlifter taking off.
