I got these as  seeds, dont know where dont know when, they dont like the sun and have  nice nasty spines, anyone know what they are? Ive got about 6  of them, 2  in the ground are getting large, in pots  still small silvery leaves underneath

Verschaffeltia splendida.  Just a guess.

no its  not  that  i already  have  many  see   photo, small one is P. borsigianum

Thanks  Could be, cant remember where it came from but I pick up seeds wherever I go and am not good at labelling.ah well the surprise is sometimes good, it does  lok like it maybe an Astrocaryum, Ill  have a look at the varieities and see.

This  link shows an exact lookalike of my trees as a young  plant a few photos  down  http://www.palmpedia.net/wiki/Astrocaryum_sciophilum  so could well be................I simply  cannot imagine where i got the seed  though??
