The Tropics are Coming!

It is interesting.

I would have thought that there would be a limit to how hot the equatorial tropics could possibly get though. I would imagine that instead of getting hotter they would get wetter which by itself would limit the temp with more humidity and water in the atmosphere. So places like Singapore will just be constantly wet every day. But the Hadley cells that the tropics generate would likely get wider and extend way past the 30 degree mark and get closer to maybe 40 degrees south and north. Those boundary zones are the drier subtropical areas so if they spread then places like southern Australia are in trouble. It's interesting that the NW of Australia is getting wetter, the south is getting drier and Antarctic cold fronts are getting weaker and not getting as far north as they used too. It kind of makes sense then. Another reason to move to the tropics.

Millbrook, "Kinjarling" Noongar word meaning "Place of Rain", Rainbow Coast, Western Australia 35S. Warm temperate. Csb Koeppen Climate classification. Cool nights all year round.

The Tropics are Coming!

The good news is rarely reported: the overwhelming majority of the earth's species reside in the tropics, so whatever temperate losses the earth will sustain due to a warming climate will be more than offset by the increased habitat options for millions of species which now have less than 50% of the earth available to them. Climate change can be a good thing!

I have read when the weather warms the cooler climate flora and fauna will move more south and north to accommodate their needs, at least for a while.
