Minca is located at the foothills of the Sierra Madre Mountains at about 1000m altitude about 20 miles from the Caribbean sea. A wonderful place. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. The two unknowns are Attalea butyracea and other a Bactris gasipaes. Most likely Bactris gasipaes var. chichagui.

Thanks for the Id's. The Bactris and the fan palm barely in the picture under the Bactris was the most common palm in this location. I thought I had a picture of the understory fan palm but I guess not. They were abundant and they don't form a trunk. The Attalea appeared out of no where around a bend on one of the trails we were on, splendid. I did spot a Chamaedorea oblongata I believe but it was so strangled in vines and surrounding growth it wasn't worth a picture. There are tours available in town for day trips up to 2500- 4000m by 4x4.  That range you will find the rare beauty Ceroxylon ceriferum likely between 2000-3000m. This is also the location of Ciudad Perdida "The lost city" recently discovered. We really really should have done it this. Maybe next time.

Those were not palms but actually Carludovica. The Chamy was Chamaedorea pinnatifrons.
