I have a medium sized A.hookeriana ( 4 feet tall and almost 4 feet diameter). Is it possible to divide a clump this size?

El Oasis - beach garden, distinct wet/dry season ,year round 20-38c

Las Heliconias - jungle garden ,800m elevation,150+ inches rainfall, year round 15-28c

I'd give it a go Scott, only because they seem to be rather tough little palms. I've never divided my big one,but have two smaller ones that have managed to survive after some serious neglect. A chop down the middle with an ample amount of roots should do the trick.

The trunk structure appears to be very similar to Rhapis palms. I have divided many of those without problems.

El Oasis - beach garden, distinct wet/dry season ,year round 20-38c

Las Heliconias - jungle garden ,800m elevation,150+ inches rainfall, year round 15-28c
