Mystery Palms from Bogota Botanical Garden

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

On our way out of Colombia, headed home from the 2018 Bi-annual tour, we had time to stop by Bogota Botanical Garden.  The garden was great.  It was expertly planted with flowering plants and bushes.  The hardscapes were well though out, and the hardwood tree collection was impressive. However the signage identifying species was almost non-existent.  There were not may palms in the garden, but the few that were present had no labels.  Since I am no expert on high elevation palms, almost all the species were foreign to me.  Hope some of you can help idetify these palms.  Sorry for the picture quality, the cloudy gray sky lighting is tough to overcome.

Mystery Palm #2

FYI The last picture has mystery palm 1 on the right and mystery palm 2 on the left.  My guess is they are different species within the same genus.
