Slow release fertilizer is generally recommend for palms over liquid or the blue granular stuff. Slow release fertilizer is safer and a good one can last for months vs. monthly treatments with other varieties. Non slow release fertilizers can wallop the palm with high concentrations of elements that can burn roots. After the initial hit they can dissipate quickly - feast or famine for the palm until you wallop it again - a very bad long term strategy for palm nutrition. Slow release costs more but is worth it. If you insist on using liquid or standard granular fertilizer dilute it by 25-50%. That requires more work and some math skills as well as more frequent application.
