Golden Penda (Xanthostemon chrysanthus) blooming

My on-year-old seedlings have started to bloom. I'm hoping these rare to South Florida trees will grow large enough to impress my neighbors.

Wow! that must have been quite a show . I cannot wait to go to Australia — I'm planning my trip already. I do love Australian plants (actually, the one in the background of the first picture is a hibiscus Insularis.) Some of them can be challenging to grow here due to our alkaline soil, but amending the soil with blood meal and humic acid do the trick.

Golden Penda ( Xanthostemon Chrysanthus thrive in Darwin, Northern territory of Australia, but are a much under utilised street tree. There are a couple planted a few hundred yards from my house outside the local shopping center, They put on a flower display twice a year in our climate, at the begining of the 'Wet' monsoon in November, the again at the end of the wet in April. The local species of Rainbow Lorikeet Parrots just love the nectar producing flowers and yes indeed, they would certainly be a magnificent addition to ant tropical and sub tropical garden.

The three trees I have in the ground are doing great. They're blooming more than what I was expecting. Pretty much, they have been blooming for a couple of weeks every two months or so. I haven't been able to capture the hummingbirds fighting for the nectar, but they're now all over my place. This is a must have tree for those who want to attract wild live to the garden.

Stunning! I would love to have one of these.

I am delighted to have the red flowering form purchased just last week at the Tamiami orchid show in Miami.

Hoping it will like the mountains of Puerto Rico.
