Hey everyone kinda mixed with this subject. So trachycarpus fortunei and takil. Is room temperature the best or in the same heated area as the rest of my other palms? Current temp set at 90 degrees

80F works good for all trachy. Most other palms and cycads I keep at 90-95F.

Even around 20-22C will be enough for both of these species.

So in the 70's

5 year high 42.2C/108F (07/06/2018)--5 year low 4.6C/40.3F (1/19/2023)--Lowest recent/current winter: 4.6C/40.3F (1/19/2023)

yes, 90c would not be good for those seeds. 22c is about perfect. Just don't keep them too moist.

As with most seeds hot, humid with a good substrate and not too much or too little watering. Im about to pot up a few of my chamaerodea radicalis and feed the remaining ones in the incubator.

LOWS 16/17 12F, 17/18 3F, 18/19 7F, 19/20 20F

Palms growing in my garden: Trachycarpus Fortunei, Chamaerops Humilis, Chamaerops Humilis var. Cerifera, Rhapidophyllum Hystrix, Sabal Palmetto

Trachies don't need high heat to germinate and added heat may be detrimental for them. They are not tropical at all. I can't grow them in FL.

It’s ironic I can germinate anything but trachycarpus or Chinese palms. I’m good at tropics germination but so far I have windmill Chinese fan and takil and nothing have germinated

Don't feel too bad. I've never had luck germinating Butias and no luck with coconuts until 2 years ago.
