Will A Needle Palm Survive In Ocean County Nj?

Hey I was just wondering if I would be able to plant a needle palm in inland ocean County nj lows for the year usually around -1 -2 sometimes -3 is that okay for a needle or even a wind mill palm?Also would there be any other palms I could plant?Thx a lot!

You could try a Needle Palm and Sabal Minor.  You'll want to protect both for the first few years.

When they are small, burlap or a 5 gallon bucket filled with dead leaves from the fall will work.

That is not a windmill friendly area then. You're stuck with needles and minors that far away from the coast.

I grow a trachy near Philly for 7 years now. It will definitely need protection its whole life. See youtube for winterized palms. Also see islandpalmtrees, from NJ, Thier videos are great. It will do well, if you have the dedication. Needles are even hardier. Good luck!

Great thanks I order Sabal Minor Mccurtain they are very hardy?If I see a windmill at any store I will get it and Will order a needle from mail order natives when the get restocked.Thx
