Is it coning or flushing?

My cycas diannanensis is either coning or flushing and I am not certain which. From the slowness of it's progress I guess that it is coning...

What say you?

Thanks

Sure does, but I have little or no idea where I can acquire such in my neck of the woods.

My female isn't opened yet, so the timing looks great.

Spring is wake up time for Cycads. I like coning and flushing at the same time. Does not happen that often for me, but it did this year on my Freddy G:

I actually have a series of 6 videos called PlantaPorno on YouTube, under the banner of LinuxCabal, of the flowering and seeding of many of my plants. I have some 350+ species to use as porn stars. I am collecting material for chapter 7 in which my cycas Diananensis will appear, and if all goes well with the pollinating process, we may see a reappearance in some further chapter with fertile seeds, thanks to TexasColdHardy's help.

Pollen in the mail.  I sent a PM with directions. There is enough to dry pollinate the cycad with a fine paint brush or you can use the wet method, but must use a surfactant like dawn dish soap or the pollen won't take.  Do not breathe the pollen and wash your hands after use as it is poisonous.

A few questions

1. How long, after opening, will the female be receptive to receiving the pollen? Hours, days, weeks...?

2. Am I correct in assuming that the use of a surfactant is only relevant when employing the wet method?

3. Is pollenating once sufficient or should several applications be made over a period of time?

4. Which method, wet or dry, do you prefer?

5. Should I store the pollen in the fridge until the female opens? In the fridge or in the freezer?

6. Are any special precautions in packaging needed before storing in the fridge or freezer?

Thanks

Richard
