Sandblasting driftwood

Recommended Posts

After a few wet winters and scorching summers my driftwood lost its golden tones.

I heard sandblasting will bring it back (by removing the grayed outer layer) but I never used a sandblaster before and wouldn't know what to buy or rent.

Has anyone done this or have any advice? Much appreciated.

I always thought the "look" of driftwood IS the gray hue.

Naples (inland), FL - technically 10a but more like 9b in the winter :hmm:

Because you didn't see it before it turned gray?! It's a personal preference I guess. I prefer the gold/brown/reds. When it turns gray it's just a bland gray, loses its zing.

Haven't found a spot where I thought gray worked better. Wish I had pics but believe I never took pics of the wood specifically.
