Is this a Dypsis decaryi x leptocheilos ???

Could this specimen be a Dypsis decaryi x leptocheilos? This palm is growing in the Tropical Stream Garden at Leu Gardens. It was planted back in June 2000 and is currently about 15ft tall.. It was acquired as Dypsis decaryi. It grows in partial sun. I have always wondered about this palm, the last 10 years it has developed a lot of red "fuzz" in the crown. The foliage has had a more green color instead of the greenish-silver.

looks like it has teddy bear in it, but the decaryi genes are dominant.

looks like decaryi x leptocheilos.  Here is the thread where leptocheilos is the mother, looks more like teddy bear.  http://www.palmtalk.org/forum/index.php?/topic/43063-dypsis-leptocheilos-x-decaryi-tri-bear/

At first glance, I thought that it was a shade grown D. decaryi as well, perhaps with a slight bit of lepto.  But, the trunk looks like it might be more similar to D. leptochielos (I can't see so well from the photo)?  Maybe a little white powder there?  I definitely think that the Triangle is dominant.

I always wondered about this palm. It seems to be mostly D. decaryi with just a small part D. leptocheilos. The trunk is thinner and foliage more green. The tomentose is more red like a Teddy Bear than the more brownish usually seen on Triangles. This palm used to be in full sun but nearby Ceiba speciosa and Ficus microcarpa have started shading it in the last 2-3 years. It looked like this when it was in full sun. I have grown D. decaryi in shade and this one just looks a bit different.

yeah, that tomentose color is not brown, reminds me of my tribear(leptocheilos x decaryi).  When there are genetic crosses, there are lots of possibilities that can be manifested.
