Hello fellows palmtalker,

Looks like spring comes early in central valley and this Blue jubaea chilensis has been patiently waiting in it's pot to be in the ground. I think Big Blue will be a good focus point in the yard, years to comes.

Jubaeas grow more slowly the longer they remain in pots.  Ground plant now !  :)

Wish we could grow them. First photo I saw of a mature specimen, I wanted one. Alas, my search revealed the unfortunate truth of their candidacy to grow in my climate. Before palm talk, you had to join a society then, go to meetings to get info and sources of palms. And buy books to research.

Like Moose, I too wanted one of these, but happily (from this forum) learned it would mean death for the tree in my climate.

Thanks so much for the photos and I do love seeing the trees when I travel.

Josue, I did walk around that Jubaea not too long ago and also noticed the blue glucose on that palm. I was wondering what it look like when still young.

+1. Jubaea do not like pots and will grow much faster in the ground or in oversized pots. Next time i germinate seedlings i will put directly in 3g as it takes 3 years to fill out a 1g or a 3g but you're left with a plant triple the size.
