Chamaedorea "Florida hybrid" seeds wanted

Hi all,

I often read about a Chamaedore hybrid called 'Florida hybrid" which should be a hybrid between C. erumpens and C. seifritzii. Does someone grow this palm and confirms it's a hybrid?

The only sources for seeds I found do not ship to Germany. Could someone help me to get some seeds?

Eckhard;  The nomenclature for the Chamaedorea species you have mentioned is somewhat confused.  C. seifrizii is a recognized species, published in 1938.

  C. erumpens was published in 1951, but is no longer recognized as a valid species, and is now considered to be a synonym for C. seifrizii.  This info is from the Kew Monocot checklist, which I accept as the final authority.  :)  http://wcsp.science.kew.org/qsearch.do

Still, palms can have slight differences that matter for horticulture, if not for taxonomy.  Send me a PM with more complete information about the vendor, price, what quantity, and other details.  I recently sent some cleaned seeds to Germany without any complication.

My memory has recovered overnight.  I believe the only distinction was that erumpens had wider leaflets, perhaps 2 cm rather than 1cm.

I believe he's referring to a seller on ebay. If you search "BAMBOO PALM Florida Hybrid chamaedorea x florida" you will find the listing.

Hi Darold and Todd,

the seller was on Amazon. I checked the link to the database of Kew. So if C. erumpens is only a synonym for seifrizii there's no need for seeds as I have C. seifrizii sown a few weeks ago.

So I have to look for other Chamaedorea seeds as I want to collect as many as possible this year (felt in love with them last year while being in Costa Rica).

Thanks for your help and saving me money for something I already have.
