I was so glad that you gave me an opportunity to give a few of your palms a home, but I'm sad I won't get to you and Virginia and your wonderful little girl at meetings here anymore.. :(. Its amazing home "right" your Fallbrook place looks with so many palms taken out of it!! Hope to see your new place someday!

I'm happy you were able to come dig some palms and I look forward to seeing them grow over the years at your place. It was always great hanging out and I hope to see you here on the Big Island soon.

And last but definitely not least, my very prized Dypsis Mananjarensis - Mealy Bug.  As many people know, this is a tough palm to find and grow in California.  Young plants never seem to get past the seedling stage and it's hard to get these to a 1 gallon size in California.  This plant was over 15 years old and was just starting to pick up speed.  It's now in my friend Nick's yard, also in Fallbrook.  We took our time and got a big root ball and it made the move without any set back.

My wife just stopped by our fallbrook garden as she's in California right now. She sent me some pictures so I will update this thread with those shortly.

As I mentioned above, my wife is in California and went by the garden to take some updated pictures for me.  We have great tenants living in this house and they really enjoy and appreciate the yard which is the best thing I can ask for.  And they let me control the irrigation from my phone, here in Hawaii, so I've done my best to keep up with the watering based on weather, etc...  However, there has been no fertilizer, extra hand watering or the love and care you would give to your very own garden.  So with all that said, I am very happy with how things are looking there.  We have been living away from our Fallbrook garden for almost a year now.

Just a couple pictures tonight as I am in the process of updating my Hilo garden thread right now as well!

This was always one of my favorite spots in the garden.  This Dypsis Leptocheillos has really grown (these things really speed up once they trunk) and the Dypsis Leptocheillos x Decaryii is doing great too.  On the left of the Leptocheillos is Veitchia Spiralis and then Kentiopsis Oliviformis.  In front of my wife is a small Dypsis Leptocheillos that was one of my final plantings before we moved from a 1 gallon pot.  Nice to see it growing.

This shot is in the jungle backyard.  Lots of different types of Archontophoenix are planted back here and providing a lot of canpoy.  Several Chambeyronia are in this part of the yard as well.  And thats a Dypsis Madagascariensis that my wife is next to.

More pics to come!

Time got away from me (busy in the Hilo Garden!) and I never posted the rest of the updated pictures from my Fallbrook Garden.  My wife was there in June and I just stopped by for a few quick photos in September.  While the garden is not in it's glory anymore since it's a rental, I do still think it's looking fairly good and we have excellent tenants who enjoy the tropical feel of the place.

So here are some more updated photos, 1 year since living there.

Looking up at a palm I bought as Dypsis Sp. Mayotte from JD Andersen, which I think is a bit different than what I'm growing as Sp Mayotte here on the Big Island.

Unfortunately I could not get a picture of my Attalea Geraensis due to bad lighting and cramped planting, but here's the base, and it's getting bigger!

What a great yard.  I clearly need to step up my game and plant more palms!  Thanks, for the inspiration, Jason.

Thanks Joe!  Happy to hear my garden can be some inspiration. I've been inspired by so many gardens on palmtalk as well. Such a great community here.
