I also have one at the nursery that has also been flowering for the last 3 yrs but does not set seed :( not sure why the seed aborts?

Sweeet!  I imagine not too many of these flowering in Southern California yet.  I'm sure there will be more over time.  It will be interesting to see if any produce viable seed here in this climate.

Nice twinsies Jack!  Looks like yours has a few extra rings of trunk. What a fatty flower.   I guess we’ll have to settle the tie on who’s ekmanii flowers first. Or who dies first.
