We saw this poor starving, never watered specimen in Rookwood cemetery, (Sydney) it has parts vandalized, burned, dug out, rotted.

It is probably obvious to someone what it is, it is a tough one. No thorns or spikes.  Could it be a Trachy?

The neighbouring Queens and Canaries seemed happy enough though.

Looks like a Trachycarpus. Did you get any zoom shots of the leaves?
