Hi Jeff,

That's not as easy as in the past with access being more difficult as old logging tracks are overgrown and palms harder to find. It can be an adventure the first couple of times one climbs to the places where these can be found but after that it is just hard work. Also nearly all the high elevation palms do not live long on my property near sea-level. With recent rainfalls and wet season commencing, one probably cannot even get to some of the known palm population habitat in one day. It's hard going. Now I only bother with seed that I can collect with easy access.

Thanks Jim, I was expecting you to mention some of those very reasons. Doing a fair amount of collecting in my days too, it can be extremely hard to get around, unforeseen problems that arise, poor weather, issues with the car or truck and then not to mention when you find some palms only to find the fruit not ripe or no seed at all!

True. Once one has been there a few times it is all just hard work to be climbing to 700+ meters to, many times, find no ripe seeds. Glad that you understand. Been there, done that.
