Fallaensis is the biggest and fastest -- this one is the smallest and the slowestDSC_2875.thumb.JPG.c075cd2b04649a15b95b8

The one of the right was planted in the ground then I had to dig it out again and put it in a pot --- again.  That set set it back a couple of decades probably

I had one in the ground since 2008. It died earlier this year - hardly grew a lick in 9 years. Now I have a 1-leaf seedling in a 14" pot. It doesn't appear to grow either. The ones I saw in a cow field in Cuba must be 100+ years old.

when it was smaller I think it was just 1 leaf every 6 to 8 months.  seems to be faster now

I was quite surprised to discover that this species may actually do better in the Arizona desert than in Florida. Here's a few I grew from seed I collected in Cuba in 2014.
