I used to read the articles and look at the pictures in Playboy magazine.

I'm sure most of the rest of you boys did, too.

For better or worse, he helped usher in American's middle-class "sexual revolution." At least that's what they say.

We once had a Palm Society Meeting up the road from the infamous Playboy Mansion, in Holmby Hills. Mr. Hefner didn't come to the meeting, but I suspect he was busy . . . .

I may have to agree with dmc....

And I did make it a point to drive by the front and back side of the Playboy estate when up there for the Holmby Hills meeting!  Hoping to see a bunny or two...lol

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

My opinion is that he is NOT in a better place now. Rip

Finally! Someone tells it like it is.

For the record, the 1966 interview with George Lincoln Rockwell (who's that you ask?) given by Alex Haley (author of Roots) is the single best piece of journalism printed by Playboy. Read it online and then you can actually justify yourself saying "I only read it for the articles".

Almost like Dorothy Fuldheim interviewing Hitler.

Agreed Dave. That was a heavy interview, akin to watching a scary flick where the heroine opens the cellar door and everyone's screaming "Don't go in there!" That POP (piece of Poo) proved no match for Alex.

As an atheist I think he did something right by making the most of this life, for there is probably not one after this one. Resting in a better place? Nah, lights out. Also leaving a legacy behind; the sexual revolution he played his part in has been a good thing in my opinion, but for the sake of family values and equality for men, women and everything else or in between we have to take care not to take things to extremes.

Oh, yeah, Hugh was a polarizing figure, for sure.

I can certainly appreciate that his brand of things went over better in some quarters than others.

At least he didn't shy from the conversation.
