So my wife and kids got me this awesome shovel for my birthday!! Had my doubts but this has got to be the best shovel I have ever used for planting !!! Dug a big hole for a jubaea I'm moving in tomorrow ! Anyone else used this shovel ? I think I will be buying the model with the extended handle .the circular handle on this I wasn't to sure about but it works awesome for downward hard strikes with ease less strain on your shoulders and arms

Interesting shovel - I've not seen a sharp-shooter quite like that one.  It appears to be a pretty good one.  Looks like you just missed a sprinkler line.  Is the entire shaft made of metal and just plastic coated at the top?  I've broken a wooden shovel or 2 trying to dig out a large palm...

It seems as though the shaft is made of some kind of nylon definetly better than wood it may be steel under the nylon whatever it is , it is hard enough to not break and just enough flex to it when prying with it . They claim you can use the sides of the spade as a saw for limbs . The edges on the side and nose are all real sharp and serated.  Oh and they also show using it as a long axe . I really like the wide kick spots I noticed less pain in my ankle as well. This item was 49.99 on Amazon and of course free shipping with prime .just type in Root slayer. There is also Root assassin but the root slayer seemed like a better shovel !!! And the sprinkler line yeah It's a abandoned line anyhow ! So i wasn't to concerned

Angle grinder with 100 grit sanding disk will get it sharp.  They are expensive if you get them online. Local wholesale suppliers knock about 35-40% off the best online prices and they are worth every penny.

I could not be trusted with a shovel like that.

I would have cut right through that conduit for sure.
