Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and a very beginner in growing palm trees. Here in Bulgaria it is very difficult (and very expensive) to find jubeae I bought this palm knowing that it is not in good condition. I planted it as soon as I got it, and it grew 5 cm. After two weeks, however, the spear dried out and pulled out. Is there a chance to save her because I will not be able to find another?Thank you in advance for your advice. . . I apologize for my bad English.

Hmm.. difficult to say. Since you already bought it in a bad condition you don't really know what happend to it, right? Could be transplant shock or kept too dry.

The best you can do is water it well and protect it very well this winter if you live in a colder part of Bulgaria.

Thanks Flow. I intend to make serious passive protection because cold and tolerance in this state will be very weak. Here the temperatures sometimes fall to -17 and with days they do not go above 0.

In this condition, I wouldn't let it see any prolonged freezes so serious massive protection is a very good idea!

My climate is perhaps a bit milder than yours, usually it is no colder than -10/-12C. Last January, we had many days below 0 and my Jubaea spear-pulled. The leaves are undamaged because the lowest was 'only' around -10C but the duration of the freeze damaged the palm's heart.

Here it is in late August. It has only grown four damaged leaves. I will protect it heavily this winter to facilitate a speedy recovery. Another blow like this could finish it off.

Hi Rembi, I doubt a palm in that condition has a cat in hells chance of surviving your winters. My advice dig it up carefully put it in an over sized pot and put it in a south facing window in the house to keep it warm. Good Luck.

Hello Jason I'm afraid the problem is burning the roots out of fermentation and if I take it out now I will hurt her extra and it will finish it. In the spring we will see how it is.

Dont move it or it will probably kill it. Cover it during the winter if you want to save it.
