Chamaerops "var semperflorens"

This is not a valid name of some established variety or cultivar. In fact the term had been selected as quite descriptive for this particular Chamaerops specimen in my garden. Yes, you have guessed right, it is a specimen that blooms all year long but the winter months. A very unusual habit for a mediterranean plant. Also a fine example of how prone to mutation is this amazing but underestimated sp. In detail this plant produces inflorescences successively from early spring to early winter. The inflorescences bear either male or female flowers and occasionally also hermaphrodite ones.

In the following pictures (shot yesterday)  you are able to observe this year's inflotescences at three different stages. Desiccated male inflorescences, a mainly female one (with a couple hermaphrodite flowers turned to unripe fruits) and now a developing male one.
