Not sure which variant of butia this is, but it is one of the nicest forms around. Fruit are red then turn orange. Grabbed a bunch of seed to see if they come true to the parent.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that was just a butia that people have cut similar to a Canary Island Date Palm.  Most people are used to seeing Canary Island Date Palms that look like this:

That's actually called a "pineapple cut."  A real Canary Island Date Palm uncut looks like this:

I never understood why people didn't give butia's similar cuts because they are of a similar type.

Good looking butia. I'd bet a dollar it is odorata based on crown size and the perceived trunk girth.

Butia here is only outnumbered in population by sabal palmettos. They vary so much it's not funny. Some can hold close to 100 fronds & some only 20. Growth habit & form is all over the place. I've said it before, I doubt there is any pure species left except in their natural habitat.
