Holy cow, never knew St. Pete could host such palm diversity.   BTW, I also find palm-watching a good way to stand up to the blues!

A friend (who I met through the IPS a roommate in Thailand) took me here a couple of years ago. She and I both loved it. I need to return.

Thanks so much for the photos and memories. Nothing like this urban well maintained and easy to access collection in Puerto Rico.

:greenthumb::greenthumb::greenthumb:Great pictures, thanks for sharing.. the Jamaicans look Great! Im sure stuff is seeding like crazy atm.

Not to sound like a broken record but Kopsick is one of those places i always recommend  visiting to anyone interested in palms, learning about them.. introducing to tropical aspects of Botany/Horticulture in general, or to anyone looking to get a feel for how a certain species might look in their landscape, let alone all that is possible to grow in and around the area.. and perhaps beyond.. lots of memories there.

Agree with Cindy that it is among the.. if not the best of the most accessable, urban-esque, palmy places to view, and a great springboard of inspiration for those looking to create such places in their own communities, especially via the group/ palm society. Would be great to see a spot opened somewhere in the park for a Plumeria collection.

People id talk to when id lived in Bradenton always asked if there was somewhere they could see different palms at specific sizes to get an idea of how they look, or how they grew.. my answer was always " take a trip over to St. Pete for a walk in the park before a Saturday or Sunday lunch downtown or heading to the beach"

Wishing i could hop in the car and be there in 20 minutes again, lol. :):):)

I stopped by there once and was amazed that jubaeopsis had nicer leaves than coconuts right next to it.  Many great species, but a few palms were struggling for whatever reason.  Pictures don't capture it entirely.

What really amazes me is that because of that climate, anyone with a little knowledge of palms, a couple acres, and enough money could have that in their backyard.  So why don't more people down there?

I heard that the squirrels love it in the arboretum (and when I went there, there were a lot of squirrels).

Kopsick has a wide variety. Great place to view palms and.a ton of cycads.

True that, it grows about a fifth of all known palm species. It looks very tropical.
