Retirement blues?

Recommended Posts

After almost 30 years working in the system I decided to take my pension and run. The day after it was official I started my new part-time job(s). What does a Bromeliad/Tillandsia guy like me do for part-time work? In the morning I go to Chris Davis Farms (tillandsias) for 3-4 hours then make the 5 minute trek to Bird Rock Tropicals for another 3-4 hours depending on how long I feel like working. The sheer magnitude of what Pam has at her BR business is enough to make even the most astute collector slobber in delight. Retirement blues? No way José!

Congratulations! You get paid to play with plants, nothing better than that.

Pam is lucky to have you!

Now that I know someone that works there I'll have to come visit....wherever it is. :)

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Do you still work at BR? I just started my Tillandsia collection and placed and received an order with BR and Rainforest Flora...and a couple orders with etsy sellers as well. More orders will be placed in the near future for this addict. :hmm:

Naples (inland), FL - technically 10a but more like 9b in the winter :hmm:

Yep, I'm still there Missi, only now I'm "working" 7-8 hours a day. I'd stay away from Etsy as they sell a lot of foo-foo stuff. What're you looking for, maybe I can save you a buck or two with plants from my collection.

Oh gosh, well my collection is still so new that I have a huge wish list! I love bulbous ones, fuzzy one, curly ones.I collect them for the plant shape rather than the look of the inflorescence. Also looking for rare ones. ^_^
