Hologram

"This is holographic projection of a Whale. It is a photographic process that produces images thanks to the differences between 2 laser beams. These images are projected into a gym using a special camera. There is not a drop of water in this room… let alone a whale… Click on the link      Makes it hard to believe what we see or think we’re seeing."  https://youtu.be/anHasqFguCM

Amazing technology! Remember Back to the future part 3? They had a shark coming out of a cinema. Back then it was pure science fiction.

Saddest thing though that in the near future this will be the only way to show our kids a whale...

This is false. Sorry.

And it's NOT a hologram. This is a virtual-reality image visible only to folks using special glasses. It's a simulated demo by a startup Magic Leap, whose products have been a vaporware so far.

So, none of these people in the auditorium actually saw this. Who knows what they were reacting to.
