Flowering Butia Matogrossensis

I purchased these seeds as Syagrus cerqueirana, but......well, I'm pretty sure they're Butia matogrossensis. Pretty quick to get to seed. This is like four or five years old.

There are actually three plants in the frame. It's just this front one that is dominant.

Very nice! The trunk looks more like butia than Syagrus I think. Interesting to see what the seeds look like.

It's always flowering. None of the seeds seem to make it to maturity. I haven't investigated to see if there's predation.  I've come to the conclusion that the other two palms around it were probably actually S. cerqueirana. I successfully transplanted one to a pot and will replant it in its own little spot.

Were these palms protected during the winter of 2017-2018 and the 8f low temp? At what temp have you noticed any cold damage if ever?

I covered this with a moving blanket.  It's small enough to do that. Very little damage. All my dwarf butia and syagrus survived this way.
