After seeing how beautiful mature D. basilonga are in Jeff's and Bill's gardens, I finally got some in the ground a few months ago. 

Fast growers, and even as juvenile plants, show lots of stem color. There are four in this grouping and it's going to rewarding watching them grow. 

I don't know the technical term for the prominent red sheath at the bottom of the new stem, maybe somebody knows the proper term.
