Where to keep planted seedlings

2 posts in this topic

Hi everyone, have 2 princess palms planted and an areca palm. I am not sure where to keep them- I have read many things: under light, in indirect sunlight, outside in warm sunlight, and not to worry about light, just somewhere humid.

Any assistance would be great.

What are their Latin names? Are the "princess palms" Dictyosperma or Syagrus rom (which are often called "princess palms" up north)? Is the Areca a Dypsis lutescens or a species of the Areca genus? All this info is important.

Both Dictyosperma and Syagrus can take part to full sun. Dypsis lutescens can probably take full Canadian sun and look OK. They can survive FL sun but often look ratty. Many members of genus Areca are understory palms that need full or partial shade.
