Brahea armata

I just had to share this picture of brahea armata, Mexican blue palm, living up to its name. If the petioles were a bit more yellow, it'd give latania or medemia argun a run for their money.

Oh yes, one of the best for a dry place that's mostly hot but can get cold.

They're generally on the slow side, but I've heard they can speed up a lot with regular watering.

(Any of the Franken Brahea seeds sprout? If not keep waiting. )

I actually didn't get any of the franken brahea (other seed yes, but not the big B). You say it's a type of B. brandegeii? My experience with just about all brahea seed is that they are terribly slow to germinate.

you know, now that I recall, I do have a pot of unknown brahea seed - rather large, somewhat rounded seeds. Maybe those are it?

They're either: (a) B. brandeegii; or (b) "franken Brahea" hybrid

They have to be yours then! because I've labeled the pot "Brahea" and my other brahea seed are labeled with the species name.
