Is this a Bailey's Palm?

Recommended Posts

I purchased this as a Copernicia baileyana but the color is a bit silver green.  Anyone have experience with this size of Bailey's Palm and can tell me if this looks to be?  I know they hybridize readily and have read they are usually green.  Planted out as a one gallon a year ago and is about one foot tall and wide.  Good growth pumping out leaves and slowed a bit in the Winter dry season.  Opened a new leaf this month and has two more on their way.  Full sun exposure.  Thanks for any input.  Would post more pics but not easy for sizing from my phone... Painful.

Looks like a Bailey. They range in color from green to a bluish color. Nice growth for one year. Are the thorns on the petioles blackish?

I bought mine as a 15 gallon about a year ago. It is now about 3'. It too has the bluish tint. I picked it out for this reason. Can't wait for it to get big.

Thorns are so small yet.  Hard to tell the color.  I had it in the same 1 gallon for two years and it kept rooting in the ground...Finally planted out last year.

Checked the thorns today and yes they are black.

I have a bailey I grew from seed and over the last 3 or 4 years,it has really started to crank! I believe this is another winner for Arizona if others would just give them a try.Copernicia,Coccothrinax, and Pseudophoenix sargentii all have proven to be good choices for the desert.
