Just curious if pruning the old leaves affects cold hardiness of trunking yuccas like gloriosa or afloifolia? I have 4 gloriosa var lone stars in my yard that look to trunk this or next year at latest. I like both the bearded and trimmed palm looking/ bare trunk, but also want them to survive. Thanks yall!

LOWS 16/17 12F, 17/18 3F, 18/19 7F, 19/20 20F

Palms growing in my garden: Trachycarpus Fortunei, Chamaerops Humilis, Chamaerops Humilis var. Cerifera, Rhapidophyllum Hystrix, Sabal Palmetto

How are they doing now?

There are conflicting claims on this as with palms.

There is no doubt removing the old skirt will lead to colder stem temperatures.
