They are very common in Darwin gardens. Native to the Top End of the Northern  Territory. Prolific  seeds are produced and they are a favorite food source for Torres Straight  Pigeons who then deposit droppings all over town. They are almost weedy in my back yard and I am forever pulling and mowing the self sown seedlings.

There must be excess of a million seedlings here fallen down and distributed by the birds.

At least they inhibit the weed growth. Like a long lawn in places.

 

Located on Vanua Levu near Savusavu (16degrees South) Elevation from sealevel to 30meters with average annual rainfall of 2800mm (110in) with temperature from 18 to 34C (65 to 92F).
