Is this the beggining of Pinnate leaves?

I noticed one of my pacific talls' emerging spear with what appears to be pinnate leaflets.

This would be a first for me.  For the connoisseurs, if this leaf does make it, will it be a pinnate one? :yay:

BTW (The two drooping leaflets you see on the lower part of the pic were part of the windowed bifid leaf. They were the "windows" part of it. They eventually separated from the main leaf and are just there. But I have not seen independent leaflets on any of the emerging spears in my garden before. Until now that is.)

Usually the lower leaflets go pinnate first. With every new frond more leaflets separate, and eventually only leaflets at the very tip of the leaf remain together until they too separate.

Here's a picture I took of one in my living room just now (bad lighting). The newest frond is about 70% pinnate.

I think what you're seeing are some latent separated leaflets belonging to the last leaf. Sometimes it can fail to develop the leaflets due to stress, etc. in the middle of the leaf.

I see. Thank you Pando for the information.  This is a learning experience for me.
