Dug out another specimen ravenea xerophila, place your bets

Recommended Posts

As usual I'm back to digging and looking for nice size plants for my "Fair View" garden. I was very fortunate to be offered a very vice 7' tall ravenea xerophila.

The dig started out great until all the dirt fell off the root ball breaking almost 70% of the roots. I did manage to cauterize with my trusty blow torch all the damaged roots I could find.

I wonder if this guy will make it?? All the rest I have dug had intact root-ball with lots of dirt and have all survived.  This palm literally was bear rooted when it was all said and done.

I did all the usual precautions like liquid kelp, B-1, superthrive etc...

Do you think it will survive??

Competence is a crane and a crew and a large rootball, none of which I usually have.

Shooting you some cretin karma . . . . :)

(I think you meant "to a certain point" but "cretin" is a word, too.)

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!
