Good Day DoomsDave! I just wanted you to know that the Dypsis Plumosa seeds started to crack open. Little heads peeking out of six seeds so far. Others are ready to split shells also, will know later the next few days.  Growing in soil mix covered in sphagnum moss misted daily in vented plastic tomato pack heated on seedling mat @ 80 degrees. Not bad since they were planted on March 23rd, 2017.

Great going Dave!  This is one of the easiest Dypsis to germinate and grow.  Mine has been giving viable seed for years and they almost all germinate.

Another update, Dave, as of today. Check these numbers! There are only a few more left then by that time I can start to put them in the cell liners.

Bravo!

I recommend much deeper pots, like twice as deep, if you can.

Dave, you keep saying deeper pots.  How deep do these guys go?  Are they persnickety when it comes to repotting?

They're not super fussy, but they do root deep. Instead of making a rootball, the roots dive straight down and make kind of a root mat on the bottom of the pot before exiting.

For 3 years these poor Dypsis had a strong competition with clumps of Heliconia I stupidly planted in front of them
Now they start to grow, and we can enjoy it:
