Did I miss the announcement or is this Super Secret Squirrel stuff?  The Palm.org site says the next one is in Singapore and Sarawak in 2016. For all us non-time travelers this does not work out so well.   Is there an update yet?

So many species,

so little time.

I hope so, then maybe we can see Sabinaria magnifica in habitat!

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

The decision has not been finalized, but Columbia received the most support in Singapore, getting more votes than Cuba. Dr. Rodrigo Bernal (who works in Columbia) was contacted and expressed interest in helping.

Mike, in order to help people plan ahead, is it possible to disclose the dates or at least the month? I seem to remember May being discussed, but I could be wrong... If it is May, that is only 15 months out.

Wow, Columbia seems quite intrepid.  Is the security situation there reasonable?

Colombia (not "Columbia") is quite safe these days and would be a fantastic destination for a Biennial. I hope it works out and that we can have some general information soon.:)

I don't recall any discussion about timing - in Singapore, the imminent action item was to consult Dr. Bernal regarding his possible interest in helping. The next interim meeting is in Puerto Vallarta the beginning of April - I'm sure this will be a major subject of discussion. And yes, it's spelled Colombia, sorry. There have been major peace agreements there. Hopefully, there will be no remaining dangerous areas if the decision to go there is finalized.

Land O Lakes FL, a suburb on the North Side of Tampa, FL

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I sat in on the board meeting back in Borneo and the consensus with many was Cuba was not favorable now and Colombia was the at the top of the list. Colombia would be much cheaper and has become safer and safer as time goes on. Count me in!

It is Colombia and some details will be coming out within a few weeks. Final dates, cost, etc won't be available yet as the IPS is working hard to accommodate everyone and keep cost as low as possible. So lots of planning and negations still to do but a rough itinerary should be coming. I am not on the Biennial Committee, so don't have any more info. Just passing along what I heard today at the meeting.

It looks like a great trip! And yes, it is safe :)
